On Thursday we got to experience a beautiful view at the red sky bar. With the Thailand humidity some of us brought along water bottles. Unaware that we would not be allowed to bring them in with us. Instead of making us throw them away at the entrance, they offered to hold onto it for us so we can pick it up on our way out. Also someone in our group was wearing shorts and didnt realize that they were not allowed. We were all concerned thinking that we might need to buy something to cover up the shorts. Instead of being turned away the individual was offered a scarf to cover them up.
These seem like very minute gestures but it was very shocking to me. In both situations I was ready to expect the worst. It is understandable that rules need to be followed, but it was so surprising to me that they were willing to help us follow these rules, instead of having the mentality of "its their way or the highway" which unfortunately we often see in the united states. This is just one example of the kind of Thai hospitality I have experienced on this trip. Here is a picture of the beautiful view we were able to enjoy.
Thanks,
Desiree
